Starlight New Westminster at a glance

Starlight Casino New Westminster is seven full rays, open 24 hours every day, around an empty ring: no table hours are published. Poker and racebook dots are filled, hotel and transit dots stay hollow, and the large glyph uses nothing beyond the facts below.

Reading the marks

Seven rays run from the centre, Monday at the top and the other days clockwise. Each one is full length. The floor is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. Every ray reaches the full 24 hours, and none of the seven is dashed.

Inside the rays, the ring is empty. Starlight publishes no separate hours for its live tables, so no day has an arc. The tables are there, but their hours are not in the published facts.

At the rim, two of the four dots are filled. The poker dot marks the seven-table room off the main floor. The racebook dot marks off-track betting on thoroughbred and standardbred racing, inside MATCH Eatery & Public House. The hotel dot is hollow, because the facts list no hotel on site or adjoining. The transit dot is hollow too: no SkyTrain station or bus exchange appears within 1 km.

Laid over Grand Villa

Grand Villa Casino Burnaby is 8.6 km from Starlight in a straight line. Laid over each other, the two glyphs share most marks, and those fade. Both show seven full rays, since both floors are open 24 hours a day, every day. Both rings are empty, and both poker dots are filled.

Three dots stay lit. Grand Villa fills the hotel dot with the Delta Hotels Burnaby Conference Centre, while Starlight's is hollow. Its transit dot is filled as well, for the bus bays of Gilmore Station 1.0 km away. Starlight fills the racebook dot, and Grand Villa's stays hollow.

What the glyph leaves out

Counts sit outside the glyph. Starlight lists 54 gaming tables and more than 935 slot machines, and Gateway Casinos & Entertainment runs it. Its loyalty programme is Encore Rewards.

The seven-table poker room runs 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. From Sunday to Thursday it opens at 11 AM and runs until late, with no closing time published. The racebook opens Sunday 9 AM to 9 PM, and Monday and Tuesday 12 PM to 9 PM. On Wednesday and Thursday it runs 9 AM to 9 PM, and on Friday and Saturday 9 AM to midnight.

Starlight also has Kirin Restaurant. Wheelchairs, accessible formats and communication supports are available on request. Holiday hours should be checked on the casino's own site.

At the door

Starlight Casino New Westminster is at 350 Gifford Street, New Westminster, phone 604-777-2946. Parking is free, in a parkade that leads to the front door and in outdoor lots, with RV parking on request. Entry is for adults 19 or older. Everyone shows government-issued photo ID, which security scans and checks against the list of restricted people.

The nearest SkyTrain station is 22nd Street Station, 1.6 km away in a straight line. From Starlight, Grand Villa Casino Burnaby is 8.6 km away and Cascades Casino Langley 23.6 km. These are straight lines between map coordinates, not driving or walking distances.

Questions about the marks

Why is no ray dashed on the Starlight glyph?

A ray is dashed when floor hours are not published. Starlight's floor is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so all seven rays are full.

Does the Starlight glyph have a poker dot?

Yes, the poker dot is filled. The seven-table room sits off the main floor and runs 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. Sunday to Thursday it opens at 11 AM and runs until late, with no closing time published.

Why is the transit dot hollow?

The facts list no SkyTrain station or bus exchange within 1 km. The nearest SkyTrain station, 22nd Street Station, is 1.6 km away in a straight line.
